Our Story

What began in 2015 as a cozy café has transformed into Siargao’s premier beachfront hangout. Its location next to the island’s top surf breaks: Cloud 9, Quick Silver, and Jacking Horse, has made it a popular destination for both locals and tourists.

Originally known as Café Loka, it was founded by Gerry and Susan Degan, along with Verity Wrigley, serving coffee and light bites. Then, in 2021, Typhoon Odette changed everything, forcing Loka to close. But just like Siargao, Loka came back stronger. As the island rebuilds, so did Loka. In June 2023, a new management team of Siargao-based entrepreneurs, Rico Rietenbach, Charles Tiu, Angela Lopez, Kim Honasan, and Nicky Sering, revived Loka with a bigger vision: a social hub where food, drinks, retail, music, and community collide.

Live Large. Live Loka.

More than a motto, it’s a way of life. It means embracing every moment, whether you’re catching waves, chasing sunsets, or dancing freely to music. What sets us apart? Our heart is Siargao. Our mostly local team delivers genuine island hospitality, and we give back by supporting homegrown talent through the Loka Riders Program, sourcing fresh ingredients from local farmers, collaborating with island artisans, and hosting events that bring the community together.

At Loka, every bite, sip, sunrise, and sunset carries a story waiting to unfold.
