Loka Riders Program
The Loka Riders Program is our way of giving back to the vibrant surf community of Siargao by championing the island’s rising surf talents.
Through this initiative, we provide support, visibility, and opportunities for local surfers to hone their skills, gain recognition, and chase their dreams—whether through sponsorships, training programs, or platforming their stories.
Join us in empowering Siargao’s next generation of wave riders and sharing their journey with the world.

Daniel Espejon, 24 years old
What are your biggest dreams as a surfer?
“I’ve been surfing since I was 9 years old. Like any other young athlete, I want to make it big as a surfer and show the world my talent and drive to compete not just in the Philippines, but hopefully someday, internationally. Mag kinahanglan ako nan ijo supporta para maabot nako an ako pangarap!"
What inspires you most about surfing?
“Surfing has taught me that you have to work hard for what you want. Every session I have is a chance for me to work on my techniques because there is always so much to learn and improve on as a surfer. Every time I’m in the water, I feel like my best self. I also love seeing people try out surfing especially when they feel stoked after, and that inspires me to continue teaching others and spread the stoke in surfing.”
How can people follow your journey or reach out to support you?
“I have a lot of competitions lined up for 2025. You can help me raise funds for my travels and registrations by booking private surf lessons with me. You can message me on my Instagram @daniel.espejon5 or donate to my GCash (0926 614 9373). Salamat karajaw sa ijo supporta!”

What are your biggest dreams as a surfer?
“I first picked up a surfboard when I was only 4 years old, and I went out with my coach, Carlito Nogalo. At first, I was scared to try this new sport, but through the guidance of my friends and coaches, I soon fell in love with surfing. It’s my goal to compete internationally and eventually compete against my idols. Gusto ko mag champion sa umaabot pa na panahon!”
What inspires you most about surfing?
“I live on an island where surfing is very accessible. There are many different breaks where I can free surf, train, and teach, and because of my lifestyle, I spend a lot of time in the water. I am surrounded by very talented athletes who inspire me to be better every day. When I am surfing, it's like my mind goes blank, and all my stress and worries disappear. It feels as if it's just me and the ocean.”
How can people follow your journey or reach out to support you?
